Disk Storage Space:
The term, “disk storage space,” refers to the amount of server disk storage specifically allocated to your account. This space is used to store your
html files, graphics, audio/video clips, POP mail messages, and any other files that make up your web site.
Data Transfer:
In general, data transfer is considered to be any outward-bound traffic from a web site, with the exception of e-mail. For example, each time a
web page, image, midi file, QuickTime video, etc., is loaded, a data transfer is generated.
Mail Forwarding:
By default, all e-mail addressed to your domain will forward to your existing e-mail address furnished by your local Internet provider. For
convenience, specific mail forwarding options are available if you need specific addresses to be sent to different Internet location.
POP Accounts:
In addition to mail forwarding, users have the option of retrieving e-mail directly from POP3 mailboxes through a program such as Microsoft Outlook.
Our plans include a Master POP account to receive all e-mail and control the settings for any optional, configurable POP accounts. Our plans also
offer a specified number of configurable POP accounts. For privacy, additional POP accounts can be assigned unique ID's and passwords.
Automated Response: An auto responder can be used to send a standard text file to persons sending mail to info@yourcompany.com. If you've ever received a response to an e-mail, suggesting that the recipient is away from the office or an acknowledgement of an e-mail you have sent, you may have received such an automated response.
Statistics:
Statistics allow you to track information such as domains that are accessing your web site, the number of "hits" you are receiving, how much data is
being transferred, etc. Additionally, DBS gives you direct access to your log files so that you can analyze your statistics with other, more
full-featured programs.
Microsoft FrontPage Support:
DBS can install Microsoft FrontPage extensions for your account, allowing you to employ the easy-to-use program to create and maintain your web site.
You may request the installation of FrontPage extensions within your web site when placing your order for domain web hosting services or by directly
contacting our customer support department. Microsoft provides direct support for all FrontPage users.
FTP Access:
To set up and maintain your web site, you will have unlimited access to your account via File Transfer Protocol (FTP) 24-hours a day. You can work on
HTML documents, graphics, and scripts locally and then, when ready, upload the files to your web site.
Anonymous FTP:
Enabling anonymous FTP allows visitors to access your web site to upload and/or download files without a unique ID and password.
Domain Name Registration:
DBS offers virtual domain Web hosting accounts which means that you can have your own Web address or "domain name" (e.g. www.yourcompany.com). DBS
can handle U.S. domain name registration or transfers on your behalf. (i.e. .com, .net, .org, etc.)
